Access to ScienceDirect AI

HEAL-Link provides all its members with access to the ScienceDirect AI service, which is part of LeapSpace. This is an Artificial Intelligence system developed to deliver reliable information from the scientific literature. The reliability of SD AI is based on the extensive database from which it draws information, as well as on minimizing the likelihood of inaccurate information (hallucinations) through the combined use of different Large Language Models (LLMs).

With SD AI, the academic and research community will be able to explore, compare, and highlight information from the full texts of 23 million peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters, with content being regularly enriched and updated. As a result, SD AI will provide authoritative scientific information while simultaneously offering significant time savings to the Greek academic and research community.

Some of the features that distinguish SD AI from all existing Artificial Intelligence systems include the following:

Submission of queries in natural language to retrieve the desired information

Concise answers generated by SD AI that include in-text references, link directly to the source content, and are connected to the Mendeley reference management platform

Ability to summarize, analyze, and answer questions related to individual articles

Support for follow-up questions, enabling dynamic interaction and a conversational experience with SD AI

Ability to compare experiments within the same publication as well as across different publications

Ability to summarize objectives, materials, methods, and results across publications

In collaboration with Elsevier, HEAL-Link will provide regular training sessions on SD AI so that users can fully benefit from the capabilities of this new service.

By making SD AI available, HEAL-Link offers the Greek academic and research community a state-of-the-art tool that will strengthen the country’s research production process.

Access is available via the HEAL-Link website or directly through the publisher’s link via IP-based authorization.
