Open Access agreements

Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link), in the context of the negotiations for the 2019-2021 renewal of its agreements, managed, where possible, to make a provision for open access publications alongside with the access to the full text of the subscribed content.

At this stage, all the agreements with the provision for open access publications support the publication of articles only in scientific electronic journals.

As the agreements provide different clauses for publishing in open access, we recommend you read carefully the terms and the conditions provided below for each publisher. Additionally, in order to enable OA provision, the corresponding author should be a member of the community of HEAL-Link members and the submission of the publication with the author’s institutional account is recommended.

Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link) is participating in the SCOAP3 since 2014 and empowers all Greek researchers in the field of High-Energy Physics to access and publish in the SCOAP3 journals without any financial burden.

SCOAP3 is a one-of-its-kind partnership of over three thousand libraries, key funding agencies and research centers in 44 countries and 3 intergovernmental organizations. Working with leading publishers, SCOAP3 has converted key journals in the field of High-Energy Physics to Open Access at no cost for authors. SCOAP3 centrally pays publishers for costs involved in providing Open Access, publishers in turn reduce subscription fees to all their customers, who can re-direct these funds to contribute to SCOAP3. Each country contributes in a way commensurate to its scientific output in the field of High-Energy Physics. In addition, existing Open Access journals are also centrally supported, removing any existing financial barrier for authors.

SCOAP3 journals are open for any scientist to publish in without any financial barriers. Copyright stays with authors, and a permissive CC-BY license allow text- and data-mining. All articles appear in the SCOAP3 repository for further distribution, as well as being Open Access on publishers’ websites.
