Emerald

Although Emerald’s physical offices may be closed for now, Emerald is very much open. Now, more than ever, people need quick and easy online access to the information published on Emerald Insight and the opportunities to share their research. Emerald is a digital-first, open publisher and will continue to be available throughout this public health crisis:

  • made research on COVID-19 and the management of epidemics and pandemics free for anyone to access and have also made this available with full text and data mining rights to PubMed Central and the World Health Organisation repository. Emerald will continue to make relevant research freely available on this site
  • partnered with ProQuest to offer unlimited access to EBook Central holdings
  • launched a publishing fund of £20,000 to cover the Article Processing Charges for research published on Emerald Open Research related to the outbreak and similar healthcare emergencies
  • Emerald Insight is set up to support remote access for those not able to be on campus, with information on how to do this available on our Customer Support Portal
  • When Emerald launched the new Emerald Insight platform last summer, all limits on the number of simultaneous users who could have access were removed. In addition, for the duration of this crisis, Emerald will waive any photocopying limits, any restrictions that apply to campus locations, and cross-border interlibrary loan restrictions
  • Emerald’s sister learning company, Emerald Works, has free tips and tricks available on making virtual meetings work
  • Now is a good time to join Emerald’s librarian community so you can easily keep up to date with new information and resources. Once a member you can join in the discussion on the Crescendo platform to share best practices and ask questions of other librarians and university staff around the world as Emerald tries to cope with this emergency
